Netcare group in outsourcing deal with Clicks

News Description

BUSINESS REPORT Netcare yesterday announced a long-term agreement to outsource 88 retail operations to Clicks. A statement from the health-care group said it did not expect the transaction would result in any job losses. Netcare said it was outsourcing its 37 retail pharmacies and 51 Netcare hospital retail front shop operations to the pharmacy, health and beauty retail chain from October, subject to conditions, including the granting of regulatory approvals. Richard Friedland, Netcare's chief executive, said specific staff members in Medicross and the retail front shops in hospitals would be transferred to Clicks on terms similar to their current conditions of employment and any staff members indirectly affected would be retained in the business. "We believe the outsourcing relationship with an experienced retail provider of the calibre of Clicks will enable us to provide an enhanced retail offering to patients, staff and consumers," he said. The agreement with Clicks excludes the dispensing of prescriptions in the Netcare hospital pharmacies. Netcare shares fe111.61 percent to close at R32.90, while Clicks shares gained 1.25 percent to R117.07.
